Tarnamid® T-27 GF50 is a polyamide 6 (PA6) from Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland) with 50 % glass fibre, heat-stabilised. The stiffest grade of the T-27 GF series: tensile modulus 16 000 MPa and tensile strength 220 MPa dry, HDT/A 210 °C. The high glass content lowers moisture absorption to 1.5 % (23 °C, 50 % RH), so the stiffness drop after conditioning is smaller than for GF30: 11 000 MPa versus 5 700 MPa.

Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-27 GF50 in Ukraine (subject to availability), in the manufacturer’s standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, parameter selection and substitution with comparable grades.

HDT/A 210 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), VST/B/50 215 °C — loaded parts at elevated temperature

Unnotched impact 100 kJ/m² (23 °C and –30 °C), notched 18 / 14 kJ/m² — high energy absorption thanks to fibre length

Moisture absorption 1.5 % (23 °C, 50 % RH), saturation 5.0 % — best dimensional stability among the series’ GF grades

Shrinkage 0.4 % parallel / 1.0 % normal — at 50 % glass, warpage calls for symmetric walls and well-placed gates

MVR 20 cm³/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg) — adequate gate cross-sections and injection pressure required

Density 1.55 g/cm³ — consider in part-mass and cost-per-volume calculations

Flammability HB (IEC 60695-11-10)

Applications

Metal replacement in brackets, supports, pedals and structural elements

Chair bases and premium furniture frames

High-load fasteners, anchors and plugs

Automotive engine-bay and chassis components

Processing recommendations

Injection moulding. Pre-drying is mandatory: 80 °C for 4–6 h in a dehumidifying dryer to a residual moisture of no more than 0.1–0.2 %. Typical barrel temperature profile 260–285 °C, mould temperature 80–100 °C. Use a screw and nozzle resistant to glass-fibre abrasion; regrind up to 20–25 % provided it is dried. These settings are general for this PA6 class; exact parameters for a specific part should be aligned with the manufacturer’s data sheet and confirmed by trial processing.

Description

Tarnamid® T-30 is an unfilled high-viscosity polyamide 6 (PA6) (viscosity number 240 cm³/g per ISO 307) from Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland). Its high molecular weight gives the melt the strength needed for extrusion: sausage casings, blown and cast mono- and multilayer film, small-diameter tubes, sheets, rods and profiles. The grade is also suitable for moulding thick-walled parts where melt viscosity and crack resistance matter.

Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-30 in Ukraine (subject to availability), in the manufacturer’s standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, parameter selection and substitution with comparable grades.

Description

Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 is a polyamide 6 (PA6) produced by Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland), reinforced with 30 % glass fibre and heat-stabilised for service at elevated temperatures. The grade belongs to the Tarnamid® T-27 GF range (10–50 % glass fibre) and is intended for injection moulding of structural parts with high stiffness and strength. The base polymer is the medium-viscosity PA6 T-27, so the material fills moulds well, including thin-walled cavities, and can be combined with other Tarnamid® grades in one production flow.

In the dry state Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 shows a tensile modulus of 9 500 MPa and a tensile strength of 175 MPa; after conditioning (23 °C, 50 % RH) the values change to 5 700 MPa and 110 MPa — typical behaviour of glass-filled PA6 that must be considered in part design. The heat deflection temperature HDT/A is 200 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa) and the melting temperature is 221 °C. Flammability rating HB (IEC 60695-11-10); for V-0 requirements the range includes a separate grade, T-27 GF30 FRV0.

Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 in Ukraine in natural and black (subject to availability), in the manufacturer’s standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, moulding parameters and substitution with comparable grades.

Key properties

30 % glass fibre — tensile modulus 9 500 MPa and tensile strength 175 MPa in the dry state (ISO 527)

Heat-stabilised formulation — resistance to thermo-oxidative ageing in continuous service up to 120–130 °C, short-term higher (to be verified on the part)

HDT/A 200 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), VST/B/50 215 °C — dimensional stability under load at elevated temperature

Charpy notched impact strength 13 kJ/m² at 23 °C and 8 kJ/m² at –30 °C (dry) — predictable low-temperature behaviour

MVR 45 cm³/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg) — good flow for thin-walled and complex parts

Low shrinkage of 0.3 % in flow direction — accurate geometry for tight-tolerance parts; shrinkage anisotropy (0.9 % across flow) must be accounted for in mould design

High chemical resistance to oils, fuels and many solvents, typical of PA6; the specific medium requires verification

Good electrical insulation in the dry state; moisture absorption of 1.9 % (23 °C, 50 % RH) affects electrical properties and dimensions

Applications

Automotive: brackets, sensor and connector housings, covers, cooling and air-intake system components

Electrical engineering: circuit-breaker housings, terminal blocks, socket and contactor parts where stiffness and heat resistance matter

Machine building: gears, pulleys, levers, guides, gearbox and pump housings

Household appliances and power tools: housings, motor mounts, fan impellers

Furniture hardware and construction fasteners: chair bases, hinges, high-load plugs and anchors

Processing recommendations

Injection moulding. Pre-drying is mandatory: 80 °C for 4–6 h in a dehumidifying dryer to a residual moisture of no more than 0.1–0.2 %. Typical barrel temperature profile 250–280 °C, mould temperature 80–100 °C (higher values give better surface quality and higher crystallinity). Use a screw and nozzle resistant to glass-fibre abrasion; regrind up to 20–25 % provided it is dried. These settings are general for the PA6 GF30 class; exact parameters for a specific part should be aligned with the manufacturer’s data sheet and confirmed by trial moulding.

Alternative from Material Wizard

For projects that require local availability, formulation flexibility or supply continuity, we offer our own grade Examid® PA6 GF30 — a glass-filled, heat-stabilised polyamide 6 made in Ukraine, comparable in key mechanical and thermal properties. For cost-driven applications the recycled grade Examid® PA6 GF30 BK R is available. Material Wizard engineers will help select the material and qualify the substitution on your part.

Examid® PA6R G is an unfilled injection-moulding polyamide 6 based on recycled feedstock. It targets parts that need the full thermal performance of PA6 with a moderate mechanical margin: housings, brackets, internal structural elements and fastening parts.

Property levels are set relative to unfilled virgin injection-moulding PA6: tensile strength 68 MPa and tensile modulus 2640 MPa, roughly 20 % below virgin. Elongation at break and impact strength drop further — this is inherent to recycled feedstock, where reprocessing shortens the polymer chain and energy absorption suffers before stiffness does. The stated 12 % and 3.2 kJ/m² therefore reflect a realistic level rather than a conservative one.

What does not change: density, melting point 222 °C, HDT/B 187 °C, moisture uptake and processing windows. These are properties of the polymer and its matrix, and recycled feedstock does not shift them. In practice the thermal capability of the part matches virgin PA6; the limitation lies in mechanical loading.

A note on melt viscosity: recycled feedstock typically shows lower viscosity than virgin material, meaning a higher MVR. This affects machine setup — injection speed and packing should be re-optimised rather than carried over from a virgin grade. MVR is confirmed per batch.

On the comparison baseline. The values above are referenced to an unfilled nucleated injection-moulding PA6. Nucleation increases crystallinity, so such a PA6 shows a higher modulus and lower elongation than standard non-nucleated grades. For PA66 the baseline is a standard unfilled injection grade. This is why the modulus of Examid® PA6R G exceeds that of Examid® PA66R G — a property of the comparison baseline, not an advantage of PA6 over PA66 as a polymer.

Formulation is matched to the application. The figures are typical for the class; the exact specification and batch variation range are agreed per application and fixed in the technical specification.
