Heat-stabilised polyamide PA6 with 15 % glass fibre — Tarnamid® T-27 GF15
Description
Tarnamid® T-27 GF15 is a polyamide 6 (PA6) from Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland) reinforced with 15 % glass fibre and heat-stabilised. It is the lightest-filled grade of the T-27 GF series: it delivers a marked gain in stiffness and heat resistance over unfilled PA6 (HDT/A 195 °C vs 60 °C) while keeping better flow (MVR 60 cm³/10 min), lower tool wear and better surface quality than 30–50 % glass grades.
Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-27 GF15 in Ukraine (subject to availability), in the manufacturer's standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, parameter selection and substitution with comparable grades.
Key properties
- 15 % glass fibre — tensile modulus 5 700 MPa and tensile strength 130 MPa dry (3 500 / 70 conditioned)
- HDT/A 195 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), VST/B/50 215 °C — dimensional stability under heat
- Strain at break 4 % dry / 14 % conditioned — more ductility than GF30
- MVR 60 cm³/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg) — good filling of thin-walled parts
- Unnotched impact 50 kJ/m², notched 6 kJ/m² (23 °C, dry)
- Shrinkage 0.4 % parallel / 1.2 % normal — account for anisotropy in mould design
- Moisture absorption 2.7 % (23 °C, 50 % RH), saturation 8.3 %
- Flammability HB; for V-0 the range offers T-27 GF15 FRV0
Applications
- Power-tool and appliance housings with surface-aesthetics requirements
- Covers, brackets and holders in automotive interiors and engine bays
- Furniture hardware, rollers, guides
- Electrical housings and terminal blocks without V-0 requirements
- Parts where GF30 is too stiff or causes excessive mould wear
Processing recommendations
Injection moulding. Pre-drying is mandatory: 80 °C for 4–6 h in a dehumidifying dryer to a residual moisture of no more than 0.1–0.2 %. Typical barrel temperature profile 250–275 °C, mould temperature 70–90 °C. Use a screw and nozzle resistant to glass-fibre abrasion; regrind up to 20–25 % provided it is dried. These settings are general for this PA6 class; exact parameters for a specific part should be aligned with the manufacturer's data sheet and confirmed by trial processing.
Alternative from Material Wizard
For projects that require local availability, formulation flexibility or supply continuity, we offer our own grades Examid® PA6 GF10 and Examid® PA6 GF30 — glass-filled heat-stabilised polyamide 6 grades with neighbouring filler levels made in Ukraine and comparable in key properties. Material Wizard engineers will help select the material and qualify the substitution on your part.
