Impact-modified polyamide PA6 with 30 % glass fibre — Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 I
Description
Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 I is a polyamide 6 (PA6) from Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland) with 30 % glass fibre, heat-stabilised and elastomer-modified for higher impact strength. Compared with standard T-27 GF30, Charpy notched impact rises from 13 to 20 kJ/m² at 23 °C and from 8 to 15 kJ/m² at –30 °C, and unnotched reaches 100 kJ/m² even in the cold. The trade-off is a somewhat lower modulus (8 500 vs 9 500 MPa) and strength (150 vs 175 MPa).
Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 I in Ukraine (subject to availability), in the manufacturer's standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, parameter selection and substitution with comparable grades.
Key properties
- Charpy notched impact 20 / 15 kJ/m² (23 °C / –30 °C, dry), unnotched 100 kJ/m² at both temperatures
- 30 % glass fibre — modulus 8 500 / 5 900 MPa and strength 150 / 105 MPa (dry / cond.)
- HDT/A 200 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), VST/B/50 210 °C — heat resistance kept at the base GF30 level
- Strain at break 4 % dry / 9.5 % conditioned
- MVR 30 cm³/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg) — lower flow than GF30 (45); consider in runner design
- Shrinkage 0.3 % parallel / 1.4 % normal — higher anisotropy due to the modifier
- Moisture absorption 2.0 % (23 °C, 50 % RH), saturation 7.0 %
- Flammability HB (IEC 60695-11-10)
Applications
- Parts under impact and vibration at low temperature: brackets, housings, protective covers
- Fasteners and snap-fit clips that need ductility at the notch root
- Power-tool, garden-equipment and sports-equipment housings
- Exterior automotive parts: holders, covers, bumper-system elements
- Replacement for impact-modified unfilled PA where more stiffness is needed
Processing recommendations
Injection moulding. Pre-drying is mandatory: 80 °C for 4–6 h in a dehumidifying dryer to a residual moisture of no more than 0.1–0.2 %. Typical barrel temperature profile 250–280 °C, mould temperature 80–100 °C. Use a screw and nozzle resistant to glass-fibre abrasion; regrind up to 20–25 % provided it is dried. These settings are general for this PA6 class; exact parameters for a specific part should be aligned with the manufacturer's data sheet and confirmed by trial processing.
Alternative from Material Wizard
For projects that require local availability, formulation flexibility or supply continuity, we offer our own grades Examid® PA6 GF30 HI and Examid® PA6 GF30 62100i — impact-modified and cold-resistant glass-filled polyamide 6 grades made in Ukraine and comparable in key properties. Material Wizard engineers will help select the material and qualify the substitution on your part.
