60% Glass Fiber PA6 — Examid® PA6 GF60 Y

Description

Examid® PA6 GF60 Y is an ultra-filled polyamide 6 with 60% glass fiber for maximum-stiffness parts: tensile modulus of 21,000 MPa, flexural modulus of 19,700 MPa, flexural strength of 406 MPa. This is metal-replacement territory — molded brackets and housings instead of aluminum castings and stampings.

The key feature is a high-flow formulation: MVR of 35 cm³/10 min (275 °C, 5 kg) fills demanding geometries despite 60% loading. Shrinkage is minimal and nearly isotropic: 0.2–0.25% flow / 0.3–0.35% transverse — tight tolerances without warpage.

Charpy impact of 110 kJ/m² unnotched and 22 kJ/m² notched — the best figures in the GF line. HDT of 215 °C at 1.80 MPa. Processing: melt 260–280 °C, mold 80–120 °C.

FAQ

Can PA6 GF60 really replace aluminum?

For medium-load brackets and housings — yes: 21 GPa modulus at 1.69 g/cm³ density yields up to 40% weight savings given molding design freedom.

Is 60% loading too brittle?

No: Charpy unnotched 110 kJ/m², notched 22 kJ/m² — higher than many GF30 grades thanks to fiber wet-out quality.

Is 60% glass hard to mold?

The formulation is high-flow (MVR 35): standard machines and 260–280 °C settings; wear-resistant screws and nozzles recommended due to fiber abrasiveness.
