Flame-retardant UL 94 V-0 polyamide PA6 with 30 % glass fibre — Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 FRV0

Description

Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 FRV0 is a flame-retardant polyamide 6 (PA6) from Grupa Azoty (Tarnów, Poland) with 30 % glass fibre: UL 94 V-0 class (IEC 60695-11-10) at 1.5 and 3.2 mm, comparative tracking index CTI 525 V per IEC 60112. According to the manufacturer, the material releases no toxic gases or fumes when burning. Mechanics are close to base GF30: modulus 10 000 MPa, strength 150 MPa, HDT/A 200 °C.

Material Wizard supplies Tarnamid® T-27 GF30 FRV0 in Ukraine (subject to availability), in the manufacturer's standard 25 kg bags, with Grupa Azoty technical documentation. On request we provide technical support on processing, parameter selection and substitution with comparable grades.

Key properties

  • UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm and 3.2 mm (IEC 60695-11-10) — for electrical enclosures and live components
  • CTI 525 V per IEC 60112 — high tracking resistance for terminals and insulators
  • 30 % glass fibre — modulus 10 000 / 8 200 MPa, strength 150 / 105 MPa (dry / cond.)
  • HDT/A 200 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), VST/B/50 205 °C
  • Unnotched impact 70 / 52 kJ/m² (23 °C / –30 °C), notched 8 kJ/m²
  • Low shrinkage 0.2 % parallel / 1.1 % normal — accurate housing fits
  • MVR 25 cm³/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg) — the flame retardant lowers flow; consider for thin walls
  • Density 1.40 g/cm³; flame-retardant chemistry — confirm with the manufacturer for specific requirements (halogen-free, RoHS)

Applications

  • Circuit-breaker, contactor, RCD and relay housings
  • Terminal blocks, fuse holders, busbar supports
  • Charging-station, connector and power-supply housings
  • Motor and transformer parts: coil formers, insulating covers
  • Appliance parts near heating elements

Processing recommendations

Injection moulding. Pre-drying is mandatory: 80 °C for 4–6 h to a residual moisture of no more than 0.1–0.2 %. Barrel profile 250–275 °C — do not exceed the upper limit to avoid flame-retardant degradation; mould temperature 80–100 °C. Abrasion- and corrosion-resistant screw and nozzle; purge the barrel after stops. These settings are general for this PA6 class; exact parameters for a specific part should be aligned with the manufacturer's data sheet and confirmed by trial processing.

Alternative from Material Wizard

For projects that require local availability, formulation flexibility or supply continuity, we offer our own grades Examid® PA6 GF25 FR 7035 and Examid® PA6 GF20 FR NC — flame-retardant glass-filled polyamide 6 grades made in Ukraine and comparable in key properties. Material Wizard engineers will help select the material and qualify the substitution on your part.
