Examid® PA610 GF50 is a long-chain polyamide 610 reinforced with 50% glass fiber. A combination standard PA6/PA66 GF grades cannot offer: high stiffness (flexural modulus of 15,000 MPa, flexural strength of 305 MPa) with water absorption of only 1.6% — versus 4–6% for PA6 GF50.

The practical consequence: parts are engineered to dry-as-molded data without humidity corrections — geometry and mechanics stay stable year-round, including water and humid-air contact. Flow shrinkage of 0.2%. HDT of 200 °C at 1.80 MPa.

The grade’s niche is structural parts in hydraulics, plumbing, outdoor assemblies and E&E where PA6/PA66 GF50 drift with moisture. Processing: melt 250–270 °C, mold 80–110 °C. Analogs — glass-filled Ultramid® S Balance.

Description

Examid® PA610 E is a high-viscosity extrusion grade of polyamide 6.10 with heat stabilization. The PA610 base molecule is ~40 % bio-based (sebacic acid derived from castor oil) — an environmental bonus for brands with ESG labelling. Its high melt viscosity is optimized for continuous extrusion of tubing, hoses, monofilaments, profiles and cable insulation.

Compared with extrusion PA6, PA610 E wins on water absorption (~3 % vs ~10 % at saturation) — a tube or hose retains its original diameter and stiffness in humid environments and in contact with water. Compared with extrusion PA12, PA610 E is less expensive and has a higher melting temperature (Tm ~220 °C vs ~178 °C for PA12), but it is less flexible at low temperatures.

Service temperature: up to 90 °C continuously, up to 130 °C for short periods (without excessive wall loading). Not intended for pressures above the design rating for a specific size — pressure rating requirements are specified individually.

Key advantages

Low water absorption (~3 % at saturation, ~1 % at 50 % RH) — dimensional and mechanical stability in humid environments

High resistance to hydrolysis in hot water and steam

Good resistance to fuels, oils, glycols, brake fluids, dilute acids and alkalis

High impact strength, including at low temperatures (down to −40 °C)

Resistance to abrasion and repeated flexing — durability under cyclic loads

Inherent UV resistance — the long aliphatic sebacic acid chain reduces photodegradation compared with PA6/PA66; suitable for outdoor use within nominal ranges without additional stabilization

Additional heat stabilization — property retention during long extrusion runs and long service life

Partially bio-based origin (~40 % of carbon from renewable feedstock)

Applications

Cable insulation and sheathing: outer jackets for communication, power and signal cables, cables in vehicles and trains — low water absorption plus the material’s inherent UV resistance

Technical monofilaments: fishing lines, trimmer lines, brush filaments, braided ropes

Pneumatic and hydraulic hoses: compressor lines, cooling hoses, medium-pressure brake lines

Automotive fuel and coolant lines: low water absorption and glycol resistance matter for post-EU6 systems

Extruded profiles: conveyor guides, edge insulation, housings for food and packaging machinery

Technical sheets and films: barrier packaging, release films for composites

Description

Examid® PA610 GF50 — an injection-molding grade of polyamide 6.10 reinforced with 50 % short glass fiber, heat-stabilized. The base PA610 molecule is ~40 % bio-based (sebacic acid derived from castor oil). It combines maximum structural stiffness with the unique advantage of PA610 — hydrolysis resistance and low water absorption.

Compared with PA66 GF50, it wins wherever the part is in prolonged contact with hot water, steam or glycols: PA66 GF50 loses up to 50 % of its stiffness at moisture saturation (7 %), while PA610 GF50 loses about 20 % (3 %). This is a critical difference for cooling system components, water pumps, coffee machines, dishwashers and washing machines. Compared with PPS GF50, PA610 GF50 has a lower service temperature (up to 130 °C vs 230 °C for PPS) but is 3–4 times cheaper and easier to mold.

Typical parameters: tensile modulus ~17 000–18 000 MPa (ISO 527), yield strength ~200–220 MPa, HDT/A ~210 °C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa), density ~1.70 g/cm³. Tm ~220 °C — continuous service temperature up to 130 °C, short-term up to 160 °C.

Key advantages

Low water absorption: ~3 % at saturation (vs ~7 % for PA66) — stable stiffness and geometry in humid environments, hot water and steam

High stiffness: tensile modulus ~17 000–18 000 MPa (ISO 527) — structural level for metal replacement

High heat resistance: HDT/A ~210 °C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa); service temperature up to 130 °C continuously

Hydrolytic resistance: long service life in contact with hot water and glycols, where PA66 GF50 loses its properties

Bio-based origin: ~40 % of carbon from renewable feedstock — reduced carbon footprint in LCA

Good flow for thin-walled and complex geometries

Low shrinkage of ~0.2–0.4 % longitudinally — dimensional repeatability in series molding

Applications

Engine cooling systems: thermostat housings, water pump impellers, fittings, glycol circuit pipes — prolonged contact with hot antifreeze

Household appliances with hot water contact: structural components of coffee machines, boiler groups, dishwashers, washing machines and steam generators

Structural plumbing hardware: reinforced fittings, mixer and thermostatic valve bodies, underfloor heating manifolds

Marine infrastructure: fasteners, pump housings, yacht hardware components in contact with salt water

Electrical engineering in humid environments: outdoor junction boxes, pump controller housings

Premium automotive interiors and e-mobility: structural components with brand ESG labeling (BMW Group, Volvo and Polestar use bio-based PA in premium models)

Description

Examid® PA612-L1100 is an injection molding grade of polyamide 6.12 with reduced water absorption. Grade designation: 612 — polyamide 6.12 (a molecule of hexamethylenediamine and lauryl diacid with 12 carbon atoms in the acid component), L — lubricated (internal lubricant for easier processing), 1100 — melt density indicator (nominal MFR for injection molding).

PA612 occupies a unique intermediate position between PA610 and PA12: water absorption ~2.5 % (vs PA610 ~3 %, PA12 ~1.5 %), Tm ~218 °C (vs PA610 220 °C, PA12 178 °C), density ~1.06 g/cm³ (vs PA610 1.08, PA12 1.01). It is the optimal material for applications with prolonged contact with water and aqueous solutions at moderate temperatures — where PA610 already shows dimensional growth, while switching to PA12 brings a substantial cost increase.

Typical parameters: density ~1.06 g/cm³, Tm ~218 °C, HDT/A ~75–85 °C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa), Tg ~50 °C, water absorption ~2.5 % at saturation, continuous service temperature up to 100 °C, tensile strength 50–60 MPa, tensile modulus 1.8–2.2 GPa, elongation at break 100–200 %, notched Charpy impact strength 6–8 kJ/m² at 23 °C. UL 94 HB / V-2.

Key advantages

Water absorption ~2.5 % — 3.5 times lower than PA6 and noticeably lower than PA610 — dimensional stability in contact with water

Tm 218 °C — close to PA610, higher than PA12 — allows continuous operation at temperatures up to 100 °C

The lowest water absorption among “classic” injection PA grades (after PA12) at a moderate cost — 1.3–1.8 times the price of PA6, 1.5–2 times cheaper than PA12

High resistance to fuels and hydrocarbons — positioned between PA610 (standard) and PA12 (premium)

Internal lubricant — eases demolding and extends tooling life

Hydrolysis resistance in hot water up to 80 °C — for household appliances and plumbing fittings

Good electrical insulating properties, stable in humid environments

Retains impact strength at −30 °C — suitable for outdoor use in temperate climates

When to choose PA612 vs PA610 vs PA12

vs PA610: PA612 has slightly lower water absorption and better dimensional stability in humid environments — choose PA612 for precision parts in contact with water (water meters)

vs PA12: PA612 is 1.5–2 times cheaper than PA12 with comparable moisture resistance (2.5 vs 1.5 %); choose PA12 only when water absorption below 2 % is required, otherwise PA612 is the best price/performance compromise

vs PA66: PA612 is 2–3 times better in moisture resistance but 1.5 times more expensive and lower in stiffness — choose PA612 for applications with constant contact with water/glycols

Limitations

UL 94 HB / V-2 (standard) — not for FR-critical applications

Stiffness 30 % lower than PA66 — for structural load-bearing parts consider PA66 GF

Tm 218 °C limits continuous service temperature to 100 °C — for high-temp needs consider PA66, PPA, PEEK

Applications

Water meters and metering equipment: housings, impellers, pulse sensor elements, water-metering fittings — prolonged water contact under temperature fluctuations

Fuel lines and fittings: fuel line connectors for trucks and special vehicles, protective sheathing of fuel lines — better resistance to biodiesel and E85 vs PA66

Hot-water plumbing hardware: fittings, thermostatic valve housings, manifold components of heating and underfloor heating systems

Pneumatic hoses and tubing: pneumatic lines of truck brake systems, medium-pressure hydraulic hoses, protective tubing for wiring harnesses

Household appliances in contact with water: structural components of coffee machines, steam generators, air humidifiers, dishwashers

Marine hardware: mounts and fittings for yacht equipment with prolonged exposure to the marine atmosphere

Premium cosmetic packaging: molded components of cosmetic containers where standard PA6 deforms under vapors

A semi-transparent crystalline material, partly derived from bio-renewable resources. It has low density, low water absorption, good impact resistance and high heat resistance. Technically, PA610 sits between the high-performance polyamide PA612 and the standard PA6 / PA66 polymers. It is widely used for monofilament production, industrial parts with high heat resistance, pipe extrusion and injection molding of high-duty parts.

Key properties

durability

very low moisture absorption

radiation resistance

weather resistance

fungus resistance

service temperature from -100 °C to 150 °C

ductility

fatigue strength

Applications

The material is used across all industries, including aerospace and defence applications. Its low moisture absorption ensures stable properties under any environmental conditions. The material costs considerably more than polyamide 6 and 66, but where uncompromising part reliability is required, choosing polyamide 610 is fully justified.
