High-performance extrusion polyamide Examid PA610E
Description
Examid® PA610 E is a high-viscosity extrusion grade of polyamide 6.10 with heat stabilization. The PA610 base molecule is ~40 % bio-based (sebacic acid derived from castor oil) — an environmental bonus for brands with ESG labelling. Its high melt viscosity is optimized for continuous extrusion of tubing, hoses, monofilaments, profiles and cable insulation.
Compared with extrusion PA6, PA610 E wins on water absorption (~3 % vs ~10 % at saturation) — a tube or hose retains its original diameter and stiffness in humid environments and in contact with water. Compared with extrusion PA12, PA610 E is less expensive and has a higher melting temperature (Tm ~220 °C vs ~178 °C for PA12), but it is less flexible at low temperatures.
Service temperature: up to 90 °C continuously, up to 130 °C for short periods (without excessive wall loading). Not intended for pressures above the design rating for a specific size — pressure rating requirements are specified individually.
Key advantages
- Low water absorption (~3 % at saturation, ~1 % at 50 % RH) — dimensional and mechanical stability in humid environments
- High resistance to hydrolysis in hot water and steam
- Good resistance to fuels, oils, glycols, brake fluids, dilute acids and alkalis
- High impact strength, including at low temperatures (down to −40 °C)
- Resistance to abrasion and repeated flexing — durability under cyclic loads
- Inherent UV resistance — the long aliphatic sebacic acid chain reduces photodegradation compared with PA6/PA66; suitable for outdoor use within nominal ranges without additional stabilization
- Additional heat stabilization — property retention during long extrusion runs and long service life
- Partially bio-based origin (~40 % of carbon from renewable feedstock)
Applications
- Cable insulation and sheathing: outer jackets for communication, power and signal cables, cables in vehicles and trains — low water absorption plus the material's inherent UV resistance
- Technical monofilaments: fishing lines, trimmer lines, brush filaments, braided ropes
- Pneumatic and hydraulic hoses: compressor lines, cooling hoses, medium-pressure brake lines
- Automotive fuel and coolant lines: low water absorption and glycol resistance matter for post-EU6 systems
- Extruded profiles: conveyor guides, edge insulation, housings for food and packaging machinery
- Technical sheets and films: barrier packaging, release films for composites
