Exablend® PPS GF50K — 50 % glass-filled UV-stabilized polyphenylene sulfide
Description
Exablend® PPS GF50K is a niche compound based on polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), reinforced with 50 % glass fiber and featuring dual stabilization: UV resistance and enhanced hydrolysis resistance. The “K” series is a line of customized Exablend® PPS compounds developed to specific customer requirements (combinations of UV stabilization, hydrolytic stability, antistatic packages, special colors, enhanced chemical resistance, etc.). The GF50K grade is a dual-stabilization configuration — UV resistance plus enhanced hydrolysis resistance — for outdoor service and contact with water or steam. It is designed for demanding structural, electrical and automotive applications where the material must withstand high temperatures, aggressive chemical environments and outdoor weathering for extended periods.
The semi-crystalline PPS matrix combined with 50 % glass fiber provides high stiffness (flexural modulus 12,000 MPa), heat resistance with an HDT/A of 280 °C per ISO 75-2 (1.8 MPa), and inherent chemical inertness to most solvents, acids and alkalis. UV stabilization and hydrolytic stability allow parts to operate outdoors and in humid environments with better property retention than standard PPS GF50; actual service life depends on time, temperature, environment and part thickness.
The material is characterized by low water absorption, high dimensional stability, minimal warpage and reduced flash formation, which simplifies the processing of precision parts.

Processing recommendations
Injection molding. Barrel temperature profile: rear zone 280–290 °C, middle zone 280–300 °C, front zone 290–310 °C; nozzle 310–320 °C; melt temperature 280–320 °C. Mold temperature 130–150 °C. Injection speed — medium to high. Drying (for bags open for more than 1 hour): 2–4 hours at 120–140 °C to a residual moisture content of 0.05 %.
