Impact-resistant injection molding polyamide PA6 Promyde B30 P MID
Description
Promyde® B30 P MID is an injection molding grade of polyamide 6 (PA6) with heat stabilization and medium-level impact modification. Grade designation: B — injection grade, 30 — relative viscosity η_rel ≈ 3.0 (low, suited to molding thin-walled parts), P — process-stabilized (improved processing stability), MID — Medium Impact (an intermediate impact strength level between standard PA6 and high-impact HI grades).
It is positioned between Promyde® B33L (standard, without impact modification, high stiffness) and Promyde® B33 P2 HI (High Impact, extrusion grade). MID is the optimum choice for series-produced molded parts under medium loads, where impact resistance is required without a significant loss of stiffness or increase in cost. The low viscosity (η_rel 3.0) provides fast filling of thin-walled and complex molds.
Typical parameters: density ~1.13 g/cm³, η_rel ≈ 3.0, MFR ~25–35 g/10 min (275 °C / 5 kg — high melt flow for thin-wall molding), Charpy notched impact strength ~8–10 kJ/m² at 23 °C (ISO 179-1eA), HDT/A ~60–75 °C (1.8 MPa), Tm 220 °C. Stiffness is ~10–15 % lower than standard PA6 (a moderate trade-off for the impact modification).
Key advantages
- Balanced ratio of impact strength to stiffness — an intermediate level between standard PA6 and the HI grade, optimal for most series-produced parts under medium loads
- High melt flow (η_rel 3.0) — filling of thin-walled and complex molds without overheating, short cycle times
- Heat stabilization: resistance to degradation during repeated processing and in service at elevated temperatures (up to 90 °C dry)
- Resistance to oils, gasoline, diesel fuel, dilute alkalis and aliphatic hydrocarbons
- Easy demolding thanks to the optimized processing profile
- Can be colored with masterbatches during molding
- Compatible with standard PA6 tooling — no special processing conditions required
Applications
- Non-structural automotive components: housing parts, fasteners, decorative trim, wiring harness holders, ventilation system components, plugs
- Electrical engineering: housings for power tools and household appliances, terminal insulation elements, switch and socket housings (for flammability class V-2)
- Industrial equipment: medium-load gears and bushings, guides, conveyor rollers, technical housings
- Household appliances: components for washing machines and dishwashers (internal, without direct hot-water contact), hair dryer and blender housings, buttons and levers
- Construction hardware: facade system fixings, dowels and anchors, ventilated facade components
- Sports and household goods: tool handles and grips, garden equipment components, power tool housings
Limitations
- Base flammability class UL 94 V-2 — not for FR-critical applications; for V-0, see the dedicated FR grades of PA6/PA66 in our range
- High water absorption (~9 % at saturation) — parts change dimensions and lose up to 30 % of stiffness in permanently humid environments
- Not for prolonged contact with hot water above 80 °C — for such applications, see PA610
