VICTREX™ PEEK 90G — Unfilled Injection Molding Polyetheretherketone (PEEK)

Description

VICTREX™ PEEK 90G is an unfilled injection molding grade of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) from Victrex (United Kingdom, the world leader in PEEK polymers). Grade designation: 9 — standard molecular weight, 0 — no reinforcement, G — granules for injection molding. A high-flow (HF) grade for parts with complex geometry, thin-walled components and long melt flow paths.

PEEK is one of the most heat-resistant engineering thermoplastics. It costs 1–2 orders of magnitude more than PA66/PBT, but offers a unique combination of properties: continuous service temperature of 250 °C, melting point of 343 °C, inherent flame resistance of UL 94 V-0 at 1.45 mm without flame retardants, and minimal emission of smoke and toxic combustion products (FAR 25.853). It has no chemical equivalents among mid-priced thermoplastics.

Technical parameters (typical for VICTREX™ 90G): HDT/A ~152 °C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa), Tg 143 °C, density 1.30 g/cm³, tensile strength ~100 MPa, tensile modulus ~3.8 GPa, MFR ~50 g/10 min (380 °C, 5 kg — high-flow grade). Certified for food contact (FDA 21 CFR 177.2415, EU 10/2011), suitable for autoclave sterilization (134 °C / 1000+ cycles), gamma irradiation, ETO and steam-in-place.

  • Aerospace: cable system brackets, cabin connectors for Boeing 787 / Airbus A350, fire alarm sensor housings, interior components subject to FAR 25.853 requirements (Boeing, Airbus, COMAC, Embraer)
  • Medical devices: reusable surgical instruments, endoscope housings, anesthesia equipment components, sterilization containers (for implantable devices — VICTREX™ PEEK-OPTIMA from Invibio)
  • Oil and gas: downhole seals and bushings (at depths up to 8 km at 200 °C), pressure sensor housings, wireline logging components
  • Semiconductor equipment: wafer carriers, test sockets, wafer handling guides — resistance to plasma and cleaning solutions
  • High-temperature electrical engineering: components for lead-free reflow soldering (260 °C+), motor coil insulators, high-power BMS connectors
  • Food and pharmaceutical industries: seals and components for CIP/SIP equipment, dosing valves
