PET-PE Compatibilizer

Description

A reactive compatibilizer for PET-PE blends — a polyolefin grafted with maleic anhydride or glycidyl methacrylate, with functional groups that bond to the terminal -OH/-COOH groups of PET. It reduces phase separation in PET-LDPE/PE blends (a typical problem when processing rPET contaminated with film and cap residues) and improves the low-temperature performance and impact strength of the final material. Suitable for injection molding and extrusion pelletizing of rPET.

Key properties

  • Reactive PET-PE compatibilizer with functional groups
  • Reduces phase separation in PET blends with LDPE/HDPE
  • Improves low-temperature performance and impact strength of the final material
  • Improves melt homogeneity and flowability
  • Compatible with injection molding and extrusion pelletizing
  • Typical dosage 2-5% by weight of PET

Applications

PET recycling (rPET). Compounding of recycled PET with polyolefin residues (from caps, labels, films) — allows processing of PE-contaminated rPET streams without separation.

PET fiber and engineering grades. Production of impact-resistant PET compounds for technical parts.

Roofing and geomembrane materials. PET-PE blends for waterproofing.

Automotive and electronics. Impact-modified PET-PE compounds for under-hood parts and electronics housings.
