Polyphthalamide Examid® PPA GF33 V0 IR, reinforced, halogen-free, flame-retardant
Description
Examid® PPA GF33 V0 IR is a reinforced polyphthalamide with 33 % glass fiber, modified with halogen-free flame retardants for service in extreme environments where flame retardancy, chemical inertness, dimensional stability (even in humid or aggressive media) and heat resistance are critical.
The material features high melt flow in injection molding, enabling the production of precise thin-walled components. It is resistant to hot water and withstands IR reflow soldering, which makes it ideal for surface-mount (SMT) components.
The UL 94 V-0 flammability rating (IEC 60695-11-10) at 0.4 mm thickness confirms the material's suitability for miniature parts in highly loaded electronic assemblies. The heat deflection temperature reaches 300 °C (HDT/A, 1.8 MPa), enabling safe use near heat sources.
Advantages
- Halogen-free — meets current environmental and industry requirements
- UL 94 V-0 (IEC 60695-11-10) at 0.4 mm thickness — ideal for miniature parts and SMT
- High heat resistance: up to 300 °C (HDT/A)
- Suitable for IR soldering, automated assembly and service in hot environments
- Wide processing temperature window
- High chemical resistance — to acids, alkalis and detergents
- Improved stiffness and dimensional stability even in humid environments
- Excellent melt flow and surface quality in molding
Applications
- SMT components: connectors, holders and micro-housings for IR soldering and high-density assembly
- Board-level insulation components — critical for thermal stability, electrical insulation and precise dimensions
- Housings for high-density connectors operating under cyclic thermal loading
- Thin-walled electronic modules and interfaces near heat sources — LED drivers, converters, control electronics
- Power supply and current distribution systems where flame retardancy, stability and chemical inertness are essential
- Industrial sensors, housings and precision-fit parts operating in demanding — aggressive or humid — environments
