Thermoplastic polyurethane Exaflex TPU 65D-EF

Description

Exaflex® TPU 65D-EF is an easy-flow modification of polyurethane with a hardness of 65 Shore D. Its reduced melt viscosity allows thin-walled parts and complex geometries to be filled at lower injection pressure, while the improved demolding profile shortens mold-opening time and reduces mold wear.

Its basic set of physical and mechanical properties matches Exaflex® TPU 65D — hardness 65 Shore D, tensile strength 55 MPa, elongation 250 %, tear strength 200 kN/m (Die C). It is intended for series molding of complex parts where a short cycle and clean release of the molding from the cavity are critical.

Applications

Processing recommendations

Injection molding. Zone temperature profile: Zone 1 — 190 °C, Zone 2 — 195 °C, Zone 3 — 200 °C, Zone 4 — 205 °C, adapter — 210 °C, nozzle — 215–220 °C. Thanks to the EF formulation, the peak injection pressure is lower for the same geometries compared with the standard 65D.

Extrusion. Zone 1 — 185 °C, Zone 2 — 190 °C, Zone 3 — 195 °C, Zone 4 — 200 °C, die — 195 °C.

Drying. The material is shipped dry in moisture-proof bags. Before processing, dry at 90–100 °C for 3–4 h; residual moisture below 0.02 %.
