Recycled PP and PE with Stable Properties — Material Wizard

Updated: 29.05.2026. Material Wizard — Ukraine. Information verified and expanded: recovery technologies for recycled polypropylene and polyethylene, supply models, typical performance data.

Material Wizard manufactures and supplies recycled polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) of engineering quality — regranulate whose property stability approaches that of virgin feedstock. We work with production scrap from film, pipe, profile and packaging processors, as well as with washed post-consumer fractions, bringing them to compound quality through our own technology stack: homogenization, molecular weight restoration, reactive co-extrusion and structural modification.

This page explains why a "stable batch" is the key question when purchasing recycled polymers, how we solve it, and the models we use to build cooperation with suppliers of virgin and recycled feedstock. At the end — typical B2B buyer questions and a contact for batch calculation.

Recycled polypropylene and polyethylene — property engineering by Material Wizard

On the Ukrainian market, "recycled PP" and "recycled PE" have historically meant a cheap substitute with an unstable melt flow rate (MFR), modulus fluctuations and visible gels in parts. Material Wizard has changed this definition: for us, regranulate is an engineering product whose technical documentation matches that of a virgin compound — MFR within a narrow batch-to-batch corridor, controlled density, a declared impact value and predictable ash content.

We focus on three segments of recycled polyolefins:

  • PP regranulate (homopolymer, random copolymer, impact-resistant block copolymer) — for injection molding, profile extrusion, packaging production, technical parts.
  • PE regranulate (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE separately and in controlled blends) — for molding, blow and extrusion processes, and film processing with appropriate preparation.
  • Compounds based on recycled PP/PE with glass reinforcement, mineral fillers, colour MB concentrates and functional additives (antistatics, AO, UV stabilizers).

On request we produce blended "virgin + recycled" formulations — a frequent request from processors who want to reduce cost by 12-25% without losing critical characteristics.

Why "batch stability" is the key question for a recycled polymer

A buyer of recycled PP or PE usually faces three risks: an unpredictable MFR in the next delivery, cross-contamination (PE in a PP batch and vice versa), and unstable colour tone. In series molding this means machine re-adjustment, scrap rates and schedule disruption for the end customer.

Material Wizard addresses these three risks both at the technology level and at the feedstock source level:

  • Homogenization in a twin-screw compounder with controlled degradation — evens out the MFR and molecular weight distribution within a batch.
  • Chemical modification (peroxide-controlled, when required) — restores macromolecule length after several reprocessing cycles, recovering mechanical performance.
  • Reactive co-extrusion for mixed PP/PE streams — creates compatibility at the molecular level without loss of impact characteristics.
  • Particle-size and colour control through in-line measurement and a sample archive of every batch.

Every Material Wizard batch is accompanied by a technical data sheet with a declared MFR corridor, density, Charpy impact and a description of the feedstock source (post-industrial, post-consumer or blend).

Material Wizard recovery technologies

Over nine years of working with recycled polyolefins we have built a stack of methods applied individually to your process and your part:

  • Property distribution homogenization — for batches from multiple sources.
  • Molecular weight restoration — for feedstock that has passed through several thermal cycles.
  • Chemical and structural modification — introduction of branching, controlled cross-linking, graft copolymerization for PP/PE blends.
  • Reactive co-extrusion — compatibility of polymer streams and addition of compatibilizers.
  • Reinforcement and modification of recycled PP/PE — addition of GF, minerals, impact elastomers, UV/AO packages.

The technologies are applied in combinations tailored to the technical specification. For series orders we develop a customer-specific formulation with the formula fixed under an internal Examid®/Exaflex® number.

How we build cooperation with feedstock suppliers

Regranulate quality begins not in the compounder but at the feedstock source. Material Wizard works simultaneously with suppliers of virgin polymers (for blended formulations and reference compound grades) and with suppliers of recycled feedstock. The approach to both categories is an engineering contract, not a one-off purchase.

Virgin feedstock: technical partnership with producers

For base virgin-grade polyolefins — the foundation of many of our blended formulations — we prefer direct contracts with producers and distributors with stable supply from the EU and Asia. This guarantees consistent Q-data between batches, access to the producer's technical support and a predictable price for 6-12 months. For irregular grades and small volumes we allow spot purchases from specialized distributors. Stock-and-flow models (a reserve at the producer for JIT drawdown) are applied for grades with a typical shortage risk.

Recycled feedstock: four proven models

1. Off-take of industrial scrap from processors (the core model). Material Wizard signs annual contracts with film, pipe, profile and packaging processors for 100% of their production reject — trim, sprues, flash and purgings. This is feedstock from a single process and a single machine — the best starting material for stable regranulate.

2. Partnerships with sorting and collection stations. For post-consumer fractions we work with MRF operators who perform washing and primary sorting. Further decontamination and compound preparation is our area of responsibility. This direction is critically important in light of European requirements for post-consumer recycled content in packaging feedstock.

3. Closed-loop partnerships with key clients. If your business is series processing of PP or PE with an annual volume of 50+ t, we are ready to build a closed loop: a virgin/combined compound from us → your production reject returns to us → we regenerate it into a compound for you. You receive a discount for the return volume and a complete ESG story for reporting.

4. Tender lots of post-industrial material from brokers. We allow these for filler projects where the client accepts average stability and a correspondingly lower price. Every tender lot passes incoming inspection and additional compound-preparation steps.

What we fundamentally do not use: one-off purchases of small uncertified scrap. It is unpredictable in chemistry and reputationally incompatible with our trademark.

Applications of Material Wizard recycled PP and PE

  • Injection molding of technical and packaging parts (crates, pallets, housings, reusable containers).
  • Extrusion of profile, sheet and boards — including for landscaping and construction solutions.
  • Production of low-pressure pipes and fittings.
  • Filler grades for cost reduction without loss of critical characteristics.
  • Compound feedstock for further reinforcement and functional modification.

How to order a batch

To calculate a formulation, ship a test batch or discuss long-term cooperation, contact a Material Wizard specialist: phone +38 050 323-23-21, or via the form on the "Contacts" page. To speed up the calculation, prepare: part type, equipment, target MFR and impact value, expected monthly/annual volume, and current specifications (if any).

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum batch volume of PP or PE regranulate?
The standard minimum is 500 kg for a test batch and 1 t for a series batch. For contract off-take projects — from 5 t in a single shipment.

What is the MFR stability between batches?
For off-take feedstock we declare a corridor of ±10% from the target value, confirmed in each batch data sheet. For tender lots the corridor is wider and always described in the commercial offer.

Can we replace virgin PP or PE in our process?
In most cases — yes, fully or in a 30-70% proportion. It depends on critical requirements: low-temperature impact resistance, optics, food contact. A specialist will select a formulation with the required substitution level.

Is a return-flow (closed-loop) option available?
Yes, for clients with an annual volume of 50 t or more. This is a separate commercial model with a contract discount for the return volume and full technical support.

What quality documents do you provide?
A batch technical data sheet, a certificate of conformity, and on request — a REACH declaration, RoHS, a harmonized HS code, MSDS. For PCR feedstock — additionally a declaration of origin and the post-consumer content percentage.

Do you hold ISO certificates?
Material Wizard is certified to ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). Details — in the news block for May 2026.

Why Material Wizard

We do not trade in feedstock from someone else's waste — we build an engineering compound with a controlled source, a technology stack and a quality data sheet. Material Wizard founder Yevhen Yekimov introduced market batch-control standards for Ukrainian regranulate producers and transferred European compound practices into the local context. We stand behind the result of our cooperation with a technical data sheet, a contract and the reputation of our trademark.
