Polymer Modifiers and Raw Material Components
Material Wizard offers a range of solutions for improving material quality. The company's portfolio includes a variety of modifiers and fillers for polymers that meet customer expectations with affordable pricing and proven high quality. Using our latest components, plastics processors can overcome the difficulties that arise when manufacturing products with the required properties.
Today's dynamic market demands ever more individual, refined characteristics from polymers. Material Wizard polymer modifiers make it possible to solve the most complex tasks
The Material Wizard team consists of highly qualified engineers and scientists who have combined expertise in materials science and chemistry with many years of compounding experience, learning to solve the most challenging tasks. The cost efficiency and effectiveness of products made by customers who use our components take them to leading market positions. The company's offering includes both highly specialized components and traditional modifiers: SBS, SEBS, additive concentrates, glass fiber, and inorganic fillers. There are also unique, cost-effective components of our own development that deliver a far better effect on the polymer than standard commercially available additives.
What types of modifiers exist?
Today, Material Wizard engineers apply the latest advances in chemistry, making it possible to obtain a polymer composition and a finished product with the required parameters. When selecting a modifier, the first things analyzed are the purpose of its application in terms of the desired property, the modification technology, and the process economics. By the nature of their effect on the polymer, the following types of modifiers are distinguished:
- reactive
- nanomodifiers
- microdispersed phase
- structural
By the parameter being modified:
- Surface-treated mineral fillers for shrinkage and thermal deformation control (chalk, talc, wollastonite)
- Fibers for increasing the elastic modulus and a number of other properties (roving, glass fiber, chopped glass strands, basalt fiber, carbon fiber, Kevlar fiber, organic fibrous fillers)
- Stabilizers and antioxidants (hindered phenolic radical scavengers, hydrolytically stable phosphite processing stabilizers, UVA, HALS light stabilizers, etc.)
- Modifiers of elastic properties, impact strength and low-temperature resistance modifiers (organosiloxane elastomers, synthetic rubbers, graft copolymers, etc.)
- Flame retardants (halogen-antimony systems, mineral systems such as metal hydroxides, intumescent systems, environmentally safe latest-generation flame retardants)
- Surface and crystal structure modifiers (nucleating agents, waxes, oleamides, erucamides, fluoropolymers, etc.)
- Compatibilizers and adhesion promoters (chemically reactive, graft-copolymer, advanced polyolefins)
Classic additives of mineral origin and synthetic rubbers form an additional group. They make it possible to change the structure of polymers, creating new composition properties and, as a result, optimizing the processing operation and improving the quality of finished products. Styrene-butadiene-styrene rubbers of linear and radial structure have also found application in bitumen modification for the production of quality asphalt grades, adhesives, and coatings. Chalk concentrates are widely used to reduce film costs and achieve higher throughput; information on the positive and negative effects of chalk in polymers is readily available online. Material Wizard manufactures mineral additives on various polymer matrices: polypropylene, PET, polyamide, polyethylene, polycarbonate, PBT, and polyurethane. Customers are offered custom development of individual modifiers designed to perform a specific function. If the use of a modifier is difficult or impractical, Material Wizard specialists will create the required materials with a wide range of physical, mechanical, and chemical properties.
