<p>J-4 is a multifunctional reactive compatibilizer and chain extender for condensation polymers (PET, PBT, PC, PA66, PA6). Its epoxy functional groups react with the terminal carboxyl and hydroxyl groups of polyesters and polycarbonates, building up molecular weight and restoring melt viscosity when reprocessing recyclate. It improves hydrolytic stability, enhances physical and mechanical properties, and makes it possible to combine any pair of condensation polymers. An alternative to BASF Joncryl ADR 4368 in chain extension applications.</p>
<h3>Key properties</h3>
<ul>
<li>Epoxy chain extender — restores the molecular weight of PET/PBT/PA66</li>
<li>Improves the hydrolytic stability of condensation polymers</li>
<li>Reactive compatibilization of PET-PC, PA-PBT and other blends</li>

<li>Low dosage: 0.3-1.0 % of polymer weight</li>

<h3>Applications</h3>
<p><strong>PET and PBT recycling.</strong> Restoring the IV (intrinsic viscosity) of recycled PET — for bottles, hot-fill containers, films. Particularly effective when reprocessing rPBT for automotive use.</p>
<p><strong>Hydrolysis-resistant PA66 and PBT.</strong> Improved hydrolysis resistance in parts operating in high-humidity conditions (engine compartment, household appliances).</p>
<p><strong>Condensation polymer blends.</strong> PC-PBT, PA-PET, PA-PC — compatibilization for technical parts.</p>
<p><strong>Bottle production from recyclate.</strong> Restoring rPET properties for bottle-to-bottle recycling.</p>

The maleic groups react with the terminal amino groups of the polyamide, forming covalent bonds between the polar PA phase and the non-polar PE phase. The result: better dispersion of the PE domain, reduced interfacial stresses, and no delamination during molding and pelletizing. Particularly effective when reprocessing rPA (from cable ties, housings, reinforced components) contaminated with polyethylene.</p>
