An injection molding compound on a homopolymer PP matrix with <strong>40 % fine-particle talc<\/strong> (D50 ~3\u20135 \u00b5m) and an optimized compatibilizer package. Developed as a cost-effective technical alternative to glass-filled PP in applications where the critical requirements are a smooth glossy surface with no visible fiber, isotropic shrinkage, increased heat resistance and high impact strength at moderate stiffness.<\/p>\n<h3>Why mineral rather than glass \u2014 the technical logic<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Isotropic shrinkage<\/strong> (~0.9\u20131.2 % in all directions) versus the strong anisotropy of GF compounds \u2014 critical for flat and large-area parts (instrument panels, trim covers).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clean surface without white streaks<\/strong> \u2014 well suited for cosmetic parts without subsequent painting \/ texturing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Better impact balance<\/strong> at equal stiffness \u2014 talc acts as a crystallization nucleating agent, increasing impact strength.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lower abrasive load<\/strong> on the screw and mold compared with GF \u2014 extends tooling life.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost 15\u201325 % lower<\/strong> than a comparable GF-filled PP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased stiffness with a modulus of 3.5\u20134.5 GPa while retaining the impact strength of a PP homopolymer<\/li>\n<li>Isotropic shrinkage \u2014 minimal warpage in flat and large parts<\/li>\n<li>Smooth glossy surface of the finished part with no visible flow lines<\/li>\n<li>Good heat resistance for parts operating briefly at 100\u2013120 \u00b0C<\/li>\n<li>Low wear of tooling and screw \u2014 extends mold life by 2\u20133 times vs a GF compound<\/li>\n<li>Can be colored in any shades without the dark tint of fiber showing through<\/li>\n<li>Low water absorption \u2014 dimensional stability in any climate<\/li>\n<li>EU 10\/2011 compliance for food-contact applications (on request)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations \u2014 honestly<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stiffness lower than Ultraplen\u00ae 530 (GF30)<\/strong> \u2014 4 GPa modulus vs 7 GPa.
