An injection-molding compound based on a polypropylene matrix, reinforced with <strong>30 % chopped glass fiber<\/strong> and a compatibilizer (MAH-PP). Developed as a cost-effective engineering alternative to glass-filled PA GF for parts that require structural stiffness, dimensional stability in humid environments and corrosion resistance \u2014 at one third of the cost and 1.5 times lower density.<\/p>\n<h3>Why Ultraplen\u00ae 530 instead of PA66 GF30<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stability in water:<\/strong> PP+GF does not absorb moisture (&lt;0.05 % in 24 h) \u2014 modulus and dimensions remain stable without drying straight after molding. PA66 GF30 loses up to 30 % of its modulus at moisture saturation and requires conditioning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lower density:<\/strong> 1.12 g\/cm\u00b3 vs 1.35 g\/cm\u00b3 for PA66 GF30 \u2014 part weight savings of ~15 %.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Raw material cost:<\/strong> 2.5\u20133.5 times lower than imported PA66 GF30 at comparable stiffness for parts operating below 100 \u00b0C.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chemical resistance:<\/strong> resistant to dilute acids, alkalis and aqueous salt solutions \u2014 outperforms PA in aggressive water storage and transport environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Structural stiffness with a 6\u20137 GPa modulus at low density \u2014 high specific modulus<\/li>\n<li>Dimensional stability under high humidity and in contact with water<\/li>\n<li>Low creep tendency at moderate temperatures (up to 80 \u00b0C continuous)<\/li>\n<li>Good chemical resistance to oils, gasoline, aqueous salt solutions, dilute acids and alkalis<\/li>\n<li>Compatible with standard PP injection-molding tooling without modification<\/li>\n<li>Low VOC content \u2014 compliance with EU 10\/2011 for food-contact applications<\/li>\n<li>Color matching to any RAL\/Pantone shade (minimum base batch 25 kg)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations \u2014 honestly<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not for temperatures &gt;100 \u00b0C continuous<\/strong> \u2014 for under-hood applications or hot liquids choose PA66 GF, PPS or PPA<\/li>\n<li>Shrinkage anisotropy along fiber flow lines \u2014 requires well-considered gate placement and adequate wall thickness (minimum 1.5 mm)<\/li>\n<li>Visible fiber on the surface of thin-walled parts (white streaks) \u2014 cosmetic applications require surface finishing (texture \/ post-processing \/ painting)<\/li>\n<li>The base grade is rated UL 94 HB \u2014 for V-2 \/ V-0 switch to Ultraplen\u00ae 600 (V-2) or combined FR-PA<\/li>\n<li>Lower toughness at -20 \u00b0C than unfilled PP \u2014 cold-climate use requires modification (EPDM cap or impact modifier)<\/li>\n<li>UV-unstable in the base formulation \u2014 a HALS package is added for outdoor use (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Target applications<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Water supply and sanitary equipment:<\/strong> cold-water pump housings, impellers, fittings, filter housings, water meter components, mounting brackets for piping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Household appliances:<\/strong> internal structural parts of washing machines and dishwashers (where there is no contact with boiling water), fan housings, cooker hood bases, food processor components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industry:<\/strong> industrial fan impellers, pump housings for aggressive liquids (at up to 80 \u00b0C), technical covers, conveyor mounting elements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automotive (interior and cabin):<\/strong> ventilation system brackets, trim holders, air vent housings, cabin hardware components.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Agriculture:<\/strong> fertilizer dispenser housings, irrigation system fittings, greenhouse equipment components, fasteners.<\/p>\n<h3>Global equivalents<\/h3>\n<p>Parametrically comparable PP GF30 compounds: <strong>LyondellBasell Hostacom G3 R05<\/strong>, <strong>SABIC Stamax 30YK270E<\/strong> (long-fiber counterpart), <strong>Borealis Borstar\u00ae BJ368MO<\/strong>, <strong>RTP 100 Series 30 % GF<\/strong>, <strong>Mitsubishi Tafmer\u2122 Premier<\/strong>.
