A standard general-purpose workhorse PA66 with a hexamethylenediamine + adipic acid molecular structure. Compared with PA6 (Promyde\u00ae, the Examid\u00ae PA6 series), it offers a higher melting temperature (260 vs 220 \u00b0C), higher stiffness and strength and better heat resistance, but is more demanding to mold (a more viscous melt and a narrow processing window).<\/p>\n<p>The natural color (an opalescent beige-milky shade) opens up coloring with masterbatches to any target color, including translucent and pastel shades. It is a universal engineering polyamide for series-produced molded parts under medium and high loads, especially where service at 90\u2013120 \u00b0C is required \u2014 the range in which standard PA6 already loses stiffness.<\/p>\n<p>Typical parameters: density ~1.14 g\/cm\u00b3, Tm 260 \u00b0C, Tg \u2248 80 \u00b0C, HDT\/A ~75\u2013100 \u00b0C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa; dry), tensile strength 80\u201385 MPa, tensile modulus 2.8\u20133.2 GPa (~20\u201330 % higher than PA6), elongation at break 30\u201350 % (dry), Charpy notched impact strength 5\u20136 kJ\/m\u00b2 at 23 \u00b0C (ISO 179-1eA), continuous service temperature 90\u2013100 \u00b0C, water absorption ~8 % at saturation.<\/p>\n<h3>Key advantages vs PA6<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tm 40 \u00b0C higher<\/strong> (260 vs 220 \u00b0C) \u2014 permissible service temperature of 90\u2013100 \u00b0C continuous, up to 130 \u00b0C short-term<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stiffness and strength 20\u201330 % higher<\/strong> at 23 \u00b0C<\/li>\n<li><strong>Better resistance to heat ageing<\/strong> \u2014 critical for under-hood parts, components near the engine and in the transmission<\/li>\n<li>Better resistance to oils and greases at elevated temperatures<\/li>\n<li>Base grade for subsequent GF reinforcement (GF25\/GF30\/GF50) or special modifications (HI, FR, heat-stabilized)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Universal injection molding grade<\/strong> for series-produced parts under medium and high loads<\/li>\n<li><strong>Natural color (NC)<\/strong> \u2014 a base for coloring with masterbatches to brand colors, including translucent shades<\/li>\n<li>Good resistance to oils, gasoline, diesel fuel, dilute alkalis and aromatic hydrocarbons<\/li>\n<li>High abrasion resistance \u2014 suitable for medium-load gears and bushings without oil lubrication<\/li>\n<li>Good electrical insulation properties (dry)<\/li>\n<li>Semi-finished material can be reprocessed (sprues, rejected parts \u2014 regrind up to 30 %)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Base flammability class UL 94 HB \/ V-2<\/strong> \u2014 not for FR applications; for V-0, consider FR-reinforced PA66 grades<\/li>\n<li>High water absorption (~8 % at saturation) \u2014 parts change dimensions and lose up to 30 % of stiffness in permanently humid environments; for moisture-resistant applications, see PA610<\/li>\n<li>Narrow molding window (Tm 260 vs Tdecomp 285 \u00b0C) \u2014 requires precise control of the screw temperature profile<\/li>\n<li>Price is usually 10\u201320 % higher than PA6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Applications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Non-structural under-hood automotive components:<\/strong> radiator grilles and fairings, headlight and fog light covers, wiring harness holders in the engine bay, air intake components (intake manifolds for unreinforced versions \u2014 for high-performance versions, see GF30)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Electrical and electronics:<\/strong> medium-duty connector housings, switches, terminal insulators, terminal box components<\/li>\n<li><strong>Industrial hardware:<\/strong> medium-load bearings and bushings without lubrication, gears, guides, conveyor rollers, fasteners<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consumer goods:<\/strong> zip closures (a classic PA66 application), sports equipment (exercise machine parts, tool handles), household appliance components<\/li>\n<li><strong>Textile industry:<\/strong> base grade for the production of nylon fibers (apparel, carpet, airbag fabric, automotive seatbelts) \u2014 after spinneret extrusion and orientation drawing<\/li>\n<li><strong>Household appliances:<\/strong> handles and switches of washing machines and dishwashers, microwave oven interior components, hair dryer and blender housings<\/li>\n<li><strong>Construction hardware:<\/strong> dowels, anchors, components of facade and interior fastening systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Global market counterparts: BASF Ultramid\u00ae A3K, Lanxess Durethan\u00ae A 30 S NT, DOMO Domamid\u00ae 66 NC, Toray Amilan\u00ae CM3001-N, Solvay Technyl\u00ae A 218 V25.
