Designation: HI \u2014 High Impact, 300 \u2014 the lower service limit expressed in Kelvin (213 K \u2248 \u221260 \u00b0C, rounded to the 300 K thermal window around the operating range).<\/p>\n<p>It is produced by polycondensation of \u03b5-caprolactam with the addition of an elastomeric modifier at increased concentration (typically 15\u201325 % EPDM-g-MA, vs 5\u201310 % in a standard HI grade). This ensures that impact strength at \u221260 \u00b0C is retained at a level comparable to that of standard PA6 at +23 \u00b0C \u2014 critical for applications in arctic conditions, military equipment and polar electronics.<\/p>\n<p>Typical parameters: density ~1.06\u20131.09 g\/cm\u00b3 (lower than standard PA6), MFR ~30\u201345 g\/10 min (275 \u00b0C \/ 5 kg \u2014 very high flow for thin-wall molding and complex geometry), Charpy notched impact strength 15\u201320 kJ\/m\u00b2 at 23 \u00b0C and 8\u201312 kJ\/m\u00b2 at \u221240 \u00b0C (ISO 179-1eA), impact resistance at \u221260 \u00b0C retained at ~70 % of the 23 \u00b0C values, Tm 220 \u00b0C, continuous service temperature up to 80 \u00b0C (dry). UL 94 HB (standard).<\/p>\n<h3>Key advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Impact strength retention at \u221260 \u00b0C<\/strong> \u2014 at 70 % of the 23 \u00b0C level; standard PA6 loses >90 % of its impact resistance in this range<\/li>\n<li><strong>Very high melt flow (MFR 30\u201345)<\/strong> \u2014 filling of thin-walled and complex molds in a single cycle, spiral flow length 1.5\u20132 times greater than standard PA6<\/li>\n<li><strong>High vibration damping capability<\/strong> thanks to the dispersed elastomeric phase \u2014 reduction of acoustic noise and resonant vibrations in moving mechanisms<\/li>\n<li>Resistance to oils, gasoline, diesel, glycols, seawater, dilute acids and alkalis<\/li>\n<li>High resistance to abrasion and repeated impact loading<\/li>\n<li>Good compatibility with standard PA6 masterbatches and compounds \u2014 coloring flexibility<\/li>\n<li>Stability under repeated processing (up to 30 % regrind)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Clarifications and limitations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Continuous service temperature \u2014 up to 80 \u00b0C (dry) \/ 60 \u00b0C (conditioned) \u2014 typical for PA6; short-term peaks up to 150 \u00b0C are acceptable but not for continuous service (for high-temp see PA66, PA66 GF, PPA)<\/li>\n<li>Stiffness (modulus) is ~30\u201340 % lower than standard PA6 due to the increased elastomer phase content<\/li>\n<li><strong>UL 94 HB<\/strong> (standard) \u2014 not for FR applications; for arctic FR applications \u2014 dedicated V-0 PA6 grades<\/li>\n<li>The high water absorption of PA6 is retained (~9 % at saturation) \u2014 for permanently humid arctic environments (marine atmosphere) consider PA610 HI<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDoes not release harmful substances into water\u201d \u2014 requires confirmation by FDA \/ EU 10\/2011 \/ NSF\/ANSI 51 \/ ANSI 61 certificates for the finished product, depending on the application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Applications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Arctic and polar equipment:<\/strong> parts for snowmobiles, snow blowers and rescue equipment, housing elements of equipment operating at \u221240\u2026\u221260 \u00b0C<\/li>\n<li><strong>Military equipment and special hardware:<\/strong> field equipment housings, latches and mounts for tactical gear, cold weather gear elements, body armor and helmet components<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transport for cold regions:<\/strong> non-structural locomotive parts, vehicles for northern regions, train electrical housings, handles and switches for rolling stock<\/li>\n<li><strong>Winter sports equipment and gear:<\/strong> ski and snowboard bindings (secondary level \u2014 for primary see PA12), protective guards, sled and hockey equipment elements<\/li>\n<li><strong>Outdoor lighting and sensors:<\/strong> housings for street lights, sensors and CCTV cameras for cold climates<\/li>\n<li><strong>Safety systems with impulse loading:<\/strong> clamps and housings for restraint systems in cold regions, impact absorbers, protective elements of working machinery<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thin-wall molding with complex geometry:<\/strong> any serial parts where standard PA6 fails to fill the mold and a high-flow HI grade does<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Global market counterparts: BASF Ultramid\u00ae B3ZG3 \/ B3K HI, Lanxess Durethan\u00ae BC 30, DOMO Domamid\u00ae 27HI Cold, Radici Radipol\u00ae A45 Arctic, Toray Amilan\u00ae CM1011G-30 LT.
