The designation <strong>ET = Extrusion Transparent<\/strong>: high molecular weight and a low MVR of ~6 cm\u00b3\/10 min (300 \u00b0C \/ 1.2 kg) provide <strong>melt stability during sheet extrusion<\/strong> \u2014 solid sheet, multiwall sheet and corrugated sheet. This is a feedstock material for sheet semi-finished products, not an injection-molding grade.<\/p>\n<h3>How ET3113 differs from other Makrolon series<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ET series (Extrusion Transparent)<\/strong> \u2014 high viscosity for complex extrusion profiles and sheet, UV stabilization for outdoor applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>LQ series (Low viscosity)<\/strong> \u2014 injection molding, optical lenses, transparent electronics housings. <em>If you need spectacle\/ophthalmic lenses, that is LQ or Apec, not ET.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>OD series (Optical Disc)<\/strong> \u2014 a highly specialized grade for precision optical media with minimal birefringence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>DP\/RX series<\/strong> \u2014 medical\/food-contact grades for bottles and containers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Advantages<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Extrusion stability with complex profiles (multiwall, corrugated sheet with thin webs)<\/li>\n<li>High impact strength over a wide temperature range (-40 \u2026 +100 \u00b0C)<\/li>\n<li>Transparency up to 88 %, with the option of thermoforming the sheet into finished parts<\/li>\n<li>UV stabilization for architectural and outdoor applications<\/li>\n<li>Compatibility with standard Covestro\/SABIC\/Plaskolite extrusion tooling<\/li>\n<li>Suitable for lamination, hardcoat application and co-extrusion with PMMA for improved scratch resistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations \u2014 stated honestly<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not an injection-molding grade.<\/strong> The high viscosity makes quality injection moulding of thin-walled optical parts impossible \u2014 for eyewear, helmets and housings use Makrolon LQ or Apec.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Not for ophthalmic lenses or eyewear.<\/strong> These products require OD\/LQ grades with controlled birefringence and precision injection.<\/li>\n<li>Scratch-sensitive \u2014 for architectural and safety applications a hardcoat (Margard type) or lamination with PMMA is recommended<\/li>\n<li>Stress cracking on contact with aliphatic hydrocarbons, ketones and alkalis \u2014 incompatible with solvents<\/li>\n<li>Yellowing index in the absence of proper UV protection \u2014 the declared ET3113 package typically delivers 5-7 years outdoors without significant yellowing<\/li>\n<li>Moisture-sensitive before processing \u2014 drying at 120 \u00b0C for 3-4 h to &lt;0.02 %<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Target applications (extruded sheet)<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Architecture and construction:<\/strong> transparent roofs and canopies (multiwall sheet), skylights and roof lights, partitions in shopping centers, greenhouses and cold frames with UV protection, noise barriers along highways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industry and safety:<\/strong> protective guards for machine tools and automated lines, transparent conveyor shields, bullet-resistant multilayer laminates (as the PC component), riot shields via sheet thermoforming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transport:<\/strong> glazing for public transport (trams, buses), protective partitions in cabs, interior trim elements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advertising and POS:<\/strong> light-box front panels, vending machine screens, transparent displays and showcases.<\/p>\n<p><em>All the listed applications use sheet as the starting stock with subsequent thermoforming or CNC machining, not injection moulding.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Global equivalents<\/h3>\n<p>Parametrically comparable extrusion PC sheet products: <strong>SABIC LEXAN\u2122 Margard MR10\/MR5E<\/strong> (UV-coated solid sheet), <strong>Plaskolite OPTIX\u2122 SG<\/strong> (general purpose), <strong>Arla Plast Arla\u2122 LSG<\/strong> (UV-stab outdoor), <strong>3A Composites POLYGAL\u2122 Multiwall<\/strong> (multiwall sheet for greenhouses), <strong>Trinseo CALIBRE\u2122 200-22<\/strong> (extrusion grade).
