Description

Examid® PA12 R is an industrial-quality recycled polyamide 12. It is sourced from controlled industrial streams: production waste from PA12 tubing and hose extrusion, post-process powder from SLS 3D printing (HP Multi Jet Fusion, EOS, Stratasys), and regrind from the cable industry. Not to be confused with post-consumer recycle (household waste) — Examid® PA12 R is an industrial-grade recyclate with traceable origin and controlled batch parameters.

PA12 is the most expensive standard polyamide (1.5–2.5 times more expensive than PA6, 4–5 times more expensive than PE). The recyclate reduces cost by 30–50 % vs virgin PA12 while retaining ~85–95 % of the mechanical properties of the virgin material and fully identical chemical properties (low water absorption, fuel resistance, flexibility). ESG parameters: carbon footprint (Scope 3) is 60–70 % lower vs virgin PA12.

The position is particularly strong in the closed-loop 3D-printing economy: after SLS printing, 50–80 % of the original PA12 powder remains unreacted in the cake. Examid® PA12 R partly originates from these SLS-overflow sources, which ensures high quality of the base molecule.

Typical parameters (recycled PA12): density 1.01 g/cm³, Tm ≈ 175–178 °C, MFR slightly higher than virgin (~10–20 % due to partial degradation of the molecular chain), water absorption ~1.5 % at saturation, impact strength retained at ~85 % of the virgin level, elongation at break 200–300 %. Color: natural (opaque beige/grey) — partial colour-bleed is possible depending on the source of the input stream.

Key advantages

30–50 % cost reduction vs virgin PA12 — a material carrying the same key properties at a lower price

ESG labeling: 100 % industrial recycled content, Scope 3 carbon footprint 60–70 % lower vs virgin — a contribution to the circular economy for brands

Low water absorption (~1.5 %) and density of 1.01 g/cm³ retained from virgin PA12 — dimensional stability

High flexibility and impact strength, including at low temperatures (down to −40 °C)

UV and thermal stabilization — for outdoor applications

Resistance to fuels, glycols and oils — characteristic of PA12

Traceable industrial origin — not post-consumer, controlled batches

Limitations and considerations

Base UL 94 HB rating (not V-0); for flame-retardant applications — Examid® PA12 E-V0 (virgin)

MFR is 10–20 % higher than virgin — better filling of thin-walled parts, but wall strength may be lower

Color — natural/grey only. Micro-inclusions of colored particles from the input stream are possible. For critical color uniformity, use virgin + colour-MB

Not for medical devices with direct tissue contact — for medtech, use virgin USP Class VI

Batch-to-batch variability is slightly higher than virgin — evaluation of a control batch is recommended before serial production

Applications

Budget pneumatic/hydraulic tubing: low-pressure pneumatic lines, general-purpose cable protection tubing, landscape and technical irrigation

Cable industry (budget segment): jacketing of outdoor power and signal cables, fiber-optic protective sheaths, coiled cables

3D-printing “replay”: returning SLS overflow to additional prototyping cycles (mixed with virgin for functional prototypes with up to 30–50 % recycled content)

Mass-market sports equipment: fitness machine parts, protective guards, fastening elements — with recycled ESG labeling

Industrial brushes and fibers: monofilaments for road sweepers, technical brushes

Non-structural automotive under-hood components: fasteners, harness holders, protective covers (without FR requirements) with recycled labeling for OEM ESG reporting

Molding and extrusion for general technical applications: where virgin PA12 would be too expensive and PA6/PA66 is unsuitable due to water absorption

Global market counterparts: Arkema Rilsan® RC (Recycled Content), Evonik VESTAMID® eCO, EOS PA2200 “balanced” (mix of virgin and recycled SLS powder), HP 3D HR PA 12 (3D-printing recycled feed). Examid® PA12 R is the MW position for industrial applications with ESG labeling and cost savings.

The stated values are measured by internal methods close to the corresponding ISO and GOST standards. Batch-to-batch variability of recycled material is higher than that of virgin — requesting the current TDS is recommended for each batch. This information is provided for reference only and does not constitute an official batch data sheet.

Description

Grodnamid PA6-L-U2 is an injection-molding grade of impact-resistant polyamide 6 produced to Soviet/post-Soviet-era standards. Grade designation: L — injection-molding, U2 — level-2 impact modification. It is produced to GOST 11262-80 (mechanical properties) and OST 6-11-498-79 (glass-filled and modified polyamides), which makes the grade directly compatible with Soviet-style design documentation still in force at many machine-building, defense-industry and transport-sector enterprises in the CIS region.

Key niche: manufacturing products to legacy GOST/OST standards, where switching to EN/ISO alternatives would require recertification, strength recalculation and updates to drawings and design documentation. Manufacturers working with government defense orders, the railway industry and heavy machine building, where documentation references GOST 11262 or OST 6-11-498, can continue using Grodnamid PA6-L-U2 without changing their specifications.

Typical parameters (impact-resistant PA6 per GOST 11262): density 1.13 g/cm³, yield strength 50–60 MPa (dry specimen), elongation at break 50–150 %, notched impact strength 6–10 kJ/m² (per GOST 4647), Vicat softening temperature 195–210 °C, continuous service temperature up to 80 °C (dry). Water absorption typical for PA6 — ~9 % at saturation.

When to choose Grodnamid PA6-L-U2

Current design documentation references GOST 11262-80 or OST 6-11-498-79 — there is no need or option to switch to an EN/ISO alternative

Supplies for government and defense orders — where confirmation of origin and compliance with legacy standards is required

Repair and servicing of Soviet/Russian-made equipment — parts made to the original documentation without changing the material

Budget applications for serial injection-molded parts without critical requirements for moisture resistance, heat resistance or FR

Key characteristics

Compliance with GOST 11262-80 (plastics — tensile test method) and OST 6-11-498-79 (modified polyamides)

Stiffness, strength and impact strength within the standard-specified ranges

Easy injection-molding processing on standard PA6 equipment

Consistent batch quality (factory production)

Available on request with QC inspection reports and certificates of conformity

Alternatives from the MW range (for new designs)

For new projects that can be designed to EN/ISO specifications, we recommend considering modern equivalents from our range with an extended set of properties and UL/IEC certifications:

Examid® PA6 HI — impact-modified grade per EN/ISO, better stability over a wide temperature range

Promyde® B33 P2 HI — extrusion high-impact grade with heat stabilization

Promyde® B30 P MID — injection-molding PA6 with medium impact modification and a lubricant

Examid® PA610 series — for applications with critical moisture-resistance requirements (half the water absorption vs PA6)

Application areas

Machine building to legacy documentation: parts for heavy machine tools, metalworking lines and pumping equipment

Transport and railways: non-structural parts of electrical equipment for railcars and locomotives, interior elements, cable insulators

Defense industry and special equipment: housing parts, brackets, insulating elements for products under government defense orders with GOST documentation

Agricultural machinery: parts for combines, tractors and trailed equipment — housings, bushings, brackets

Repair of Soviet-made equipment: restoring machinery to working order using the original molding tooling and material specification

Grodnamid is a trademark of Grodno Azot OJSC (Belarus). Supply is possible either as the original grade or with substitution by an equivalent from the Material Wizard range, depending on customer requirements. The listed values are measured by in-house methods close to GOST 11262-80, OST 6-11-498-79 and ISO. This information is for reference only and is not an official batch data sheet. Please request the TDS and a certificate of conformity for a specific batch before industrial use.

Description

Examid® PA6 HI is an injection-molding grade of polyamide 6 with impact modification (HI — High Impact). This is achieved by introducing an elastomeric modifier (typically EPDM-g-MA or functionalized EPR/SEBS) into the PA6 matrix, creating a two-phase morphology with a dispersed elastomeric phase of 0.5–2 µm. The result is a 3–10-fold increase in impact strength vs standard PA6 without significant loss of heat resistance or oil resistance.

It is positioned as a material for parts under critical impact and dynamic loads — where standard PA6 (Promyde® B33L) is not impact-resistant enough and GF-reinforced grades are too brittle. It is particularly strong in low-temperature applications: at −30 °C it retains 50–60 % of its 23 °C impact strength, whereas unmodified PA6 loses up to 80–90 % of its impact strength in this range.

Typical parameters: density ~1.07–1.10 g/cm³ (lower than standard PA6 due to the elastomeric phase), notched Charpy impact strength 12–18 kJ/m² at 23 °C and 6–10 kJ/m² at −30 °C (ISO 179-1eA), yield strength 35–45 MPa (~30 % lower than standard PA6), tensile modulus 1.4–1.7 GPa (~30 % lower than standard PA6), elongation at break >100 %, Tm 220 °C, HDT/A ~55–65 °C (ISO 75-2, 1.8 MPa), continuous service temperature up to 80 °C. UL 94 HB (standard grade) — a separate V-0 version is required for FR applications.

Key advantages

Impact strength 3–10 times higher than standard PA6 — the part does not fail under impacts, drops or cyclic loads with peaks

Retention of impact strength at low temperatures (down to −30…−40 °C) — suitable for arctic and winter applications

Flexibility and elasticity — parts withstand significant deformation without cracking; ideal for latches, side-release buckles and snap-fit joints

Retains the heat resistance of PA6 (Tm 220 °C, service temperature 80 °C) — no loss of high-temperature performance vs conventional elastomers

Resistance to oils, gasoline, diesel fuel and dilute alkalis (typical of PA6)

Stable properties in repeated processing (up to 30 % regrind without significant degradation of the elastomeric phase)

Good melt flow for molding complex snap-fit parts and thin-walled housings

Trade-offs vs standard PA6 (important when selecting)

Stiffness (modulus) is ~30 % lower — for rigid structural parts consider Promyde® B33L or GF-reinforced grades

Yield strength is ~30 % lower — not for parts under sustained static load

UL 94 HB (standard version) — not for FR-critical electrical applications

The high water absorption of PA6 remains (~9 % at saturation) — for permanently wet environments see PA610 HI

Applications

Automotive safety systems: airbag housings & clips, restraint system components, interior crash zones — requiring both impact resistance and property retention at −30 °C

Snap-fit hardware: side-release buckles for backpacks and gear, lid latches, reusable cable ties

Fan blades and impellers: domestic ventilation, axial fans, medium-duty pump impellers — impact from ingested foreign objects

Electrical connectors and housings: industrial connectors with mechanical load on the housing, housings with flexible latches

Sports equipment and gear: ski equipment bindings (not the boots themselves — PA12 is used for those), skateboard components, protective guards

Industrial hardware: tool handles, protective covers for mobile equipment, housings with impact-resistance requirements

Household appliances: moving parts of washing machines and dishwashers (with latches and hinges), handles and switches

Global equivalents: BASF Ultramid® B3ZG3 / B3K, Lanxess Durethan® BKV 30 H2.0 / BC 30, DOMO Domamid® 27HI, Toray Amilan® TY-500NHI, Radici Radipol® HSB. Examid® PA6 HI is the MW offering for series-production parts under critical impact loads at moderate and low temperatures.

The stated values are measured by in-house methods close to the corresponding ISO and GOST standards. This information is provided for reference only and is not an official batch data sheet. Before industrial use, please request the TDS and MSDS for the specific batch.
